Gardening Group has been relaunched with a new format!
We will continue to meet on the second Monday of each month, but now more often in the ACIP room in Le Bugue, where there will be a small library of reference books and data files to help people with their gardens.
We will continue to visit member’s and other gardens in the Dordogne/Lot that members might find of interest, and which may include demonstrations of gardening techniques, like pruning trees and vines, how to take cuttings etc. In addition, we will be seeking to liaise with local French gardening groups to get a better understanding of local conditions, and to help us integrate more into the local community though our shared interest.
We have been given access to a lovely park garden which needs some work done on it but can also be used for sharing skills and giving advice or training. Equally exciting is that we have also been given use of a greenhouse, more of which in the months to come.
'Ground Force' - I just wanted to say thank you to everybody that turned up yesterday for the wood cutting event we organised to help one of our little band of gardeners.
In all we had 9 people there who made what would have been a very long job much easier, in fact we had all the wood cut, stacked and tidied away between 10am and 3 pm. And it was great fun, 4 chain saws in action, lots of help with the moving and stacking, all in all, a great day.
Despite the likelihood of a number of very stiff backs, as one of our number said, "Isn't this what it was supposed to be about, all helping each other?" so perhaps the odd ache and pain may be almost worthwhile.
