A warm welcome to people of all nationalities.
Our full title is ‘Association Culturelle Internationale du Périgord’ (ACIP) and our aim is to help people of all nationalities living (or arriving) in the Périgord to integrate into the local French way of life. We encourage participation in local activities, offer members mutual support and aim to provide cultural and social opportunities.
ACIP came into being in 2003 to formalise a group of British, Dutch and French friends and acquaintances who were getting together to provide mutual support. As membership increased, the need for organisation grew and so an official Association (recognised by the French authorities) was formed with the aim of creating a multi-national support group in the Périgord.
ACIP’s diverse membership comprises over a dozen nationalities, a good number of whom give freely of their time and energy to run the various activities, serve on the committee and generally assist at events and functions.
ACIP
ASSOCIATION – we offer friendship and practical support to our members, through a wide range of activities and social events. On the last Friday of the month, we have a social evening at our Clubhouse in Le Buisson where members can meet up with each other, make new friends and chat over a glass of wine. Annual events include a Vide Grenier, a Summer Lunch or Barbecue and a Christmas lunch. In addition, there are occasional one off events such as a Quiz night or a themed dinner. The formal organization of ACIP is conducted through the Committee, which meets regularly and keeps members up to date with projects and forthcoming events. But the overall success of the association is down to contributions made by its members; you can take from ACIP what you need, but we very much encourage you to contribute to it in terms of skills, time and commitment. Whatever you can!
CULTURELLE – if you look at the monthly ACIP calendar on our website you’ll see the huge range of cultural activities on offer, free of charge, to all our members, including several language and literature courses, bridge, a book club, art classes and yoga. These take place in the Clubhouse but there are other groups that meet away from the Clubhouse such as the long and short walking groups, 10-pin bowling group or cycle and gardening clubs.
INTERNATIONALE – people from all around the world, for so many different reasons, take the decision to come and live, either full or part time, in this beautiful region of France. We are proud to say we currently have over 350 members from many different nations including France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the UK, Ireland, the United States, Canada, New Zealand, Sweden, Switzerland and the Ukraine!
PERIGORD– we are a group of people who aim to join in with French life here in the Perigord. To this end, we have links with local communities and associations, such as Musique en Perigord and Arcades. The latter organize year-round concerts, from jazz to classical music. ACIP also contributes to local events in and around Le Buisson and helps to raise money for local charities.
