Active Yoga

Active Yoga (Ashtanga Yoga) is suitable for all ages. Keep in mind that Ashtanga Yoga is a dynamic, physical and powerful yoga which is “founded” by Shri K. Pattabhi Jois (1915-2009). This type of yoga uses a series of poses (asana’s) done in a particular sequence which coordinate with the inhalation and exhalation of the breath, done at a very vigorous pace. The Ashtanga yoga generates warmth and the blood circulation to strengthen, cleanse and revitalise the muscles and the internal organs in the body.

Every week you will do an identical series of poses which will give you a basic knowledge of the series after a few weeks. From this starting point you can practise the poses (asana’s) on your own level. After a few weeks, you can work on perfecting the poses which enables you to synchronise your breathing and movements.

Our tutor Marielle started practising Astanga Yoga intensively about 15 years ago and at times a little less intense due to circumstances. With her lessons, she hopes to motivate people for a more active practise of yoga.
If you are interested in these lessons please send Marielle an email. The Active Yoga Group will have a maximum of around 10 people and when you have registered, you will receive a list with the dates of the lessons. There will be no lessons between the beginning of June until halfway October.

The lessons will be given in the Le Bastion. Please make sure that you are there well in advance to make sure everyone is ready to start at 14:00.
